15-year Limited Warranty FAQ

What does the warranty cover?

The Limited Warranty covers material structural damage caused by wood-destroying organisms (WDOs), such as termites or wood decay fungi, to any structural lumber that was treated by Best Structure Preservations.

What are the limits of the warranty?

The warranty is limited in two key ways:

  • Financial Limit: The maximum reimbursement is capped at the original service cost of the field-applied wood treatment.

  • Treatment Scope: It only applies to wood we actually treated. Untreated areas are not covered.

What if I see termites during the warranty period?

Termites may still appear—but don’t panic. The treated structural lumber is no longer a viable food source for them. They can land, crawl, or swarm near your home, but they cannot digest the treated wood or establish a colony in it.
If you see termite activity, call us immediately. We’ll inspect the issue, and visits are free if your warranty is current and active.

What if I only treated part of the structure during a remodel?

Your warranty applies only to the treated areas. We document what was and wasn’t treated during your project and include that in your warranty certificate.
If some areas weren’t treated (like new additions or existing sections left untouched), those areas remain vulnerable. We always recommend treating all accessible framing to minimize future risk.

Should I fumigate if I’m remodeling and only partially treating the structure?

If there’s evidence of an existing infestation, fumigation may be a smart additional step—especially for drywood termites that live in inaccessible framing.
We can refer you to licensed professionals to handle that safely and effectively.

Can the warranty be transferred if I sell my home?

Yes, the warranty may transfer to the new owner if they schedule an annual inspection and pay the renewal fee. The expiration date does not reset.

Do I need annual inspections to keep my warranty active?

Yes. To keep the warranty valid, you must schedule an inspection each year within 45 days of your anniversary date and pay the annual renewal fee.
